Does size matter?

For most cases - yes. But when it comes to advertising it is not a neccessity. Sometimes it is good to have a big ad on the last page of the newspaper or a big billbord on the top of a building, but we should consider that customers are sick of our logos everywhere around them… especially if they are BIG ones. And if you are a designer in Bulgaria, you should know exactly what I am talking about. The company usually says: Yes, it is a cool design? How do you come up with these ideas, guys? They are fantastic! But… could you please make our logo a bit BIGGER? We want it more visible.
Well, show them these ads and tell ‘em to consider!

These ads rock! Just pay attention to the fact that in the very center of the visual is the main idea, not the product. I think it would be much more effective when first the ad draws the attention of the potential customer and then gives him the solution – the brand/product.

And a hair product with totally radical look:

Yeah, but Neno, don't forget that the logo should also be visible. You can't put such ads on a billboard, because you can't see the product/logo at all. They are great for magazines, though.

Sometimes when I go to a store and I wonder which brand to buy, I strain my brain to recall any cool ad, or just any name I've heard recently, so in my case just the picture of the product or the big logo will help ;)

But definitely, ads are getting less and less noticable and need alternative ways for drawing the consumers' attention. Something like the guerilla marketing techniques, why don't we wrtie something about that???

You are quite right, Iva… this advertising might not be appropriate for outdoor (billboard). But with some touches here and there, it could become quite OK.
I think here is important the totally different approach, which is not build up around the logo, but around the product identity. I am impressed by the axe ads, so the next time I go to the city mall, I will have no problems recalling that ad and getting that product, just because I want to be as cool as the ad says. (suppose I am the client) ;o))
