Marketing Innovation Forum in Sofia

Indeed a great event for the Bulgarian professional in the marketing field and luckily I had the chance to attend it.
The one day program included lectures by Larry Hochman, Sergio Zyman and Guy Kawasaki.
Tell me how many times the Bulgarian professionals had exchanged ideas with these gurus? I will tell you… None! The audience also had the chance to see presentations by leading Bulgarian marketers – Christina Vlahova, Yanko Krandarov and Andrey Buchvarov. Of course they were fading before the presentations by Larry and Sergio, but still they had their contribution to the understanding of some key ideas.

I must note that all of the lecturers told us something that we already had known – to promise our clients only things that we can realize, always to tell the truth, to have a vision of the future, to try to differentiate from our competitors, to seek innovation (constantly), etc. Nevertheless it was a good experience to share opinion with these stars and to get inline with the global trends. I think, driven by out day-to-day work we seem to have forgotten the basic rules of the marketing, PR and advertising… happily we had the Marketing Innovation Forum to remind us all these.

Here is a revelation of mine which I had the chance to share with Larry Hochman: The problem with the Bulgarian top management is that they all think they know the marketing, the advertising, the PR, the direct marketing and the promotions… when they don’t! They should trust the real professionals and take their words as an advice, despite the fact that they don’t understand it. On the contrary… the top management underlines its supreme role and enforces what thinks is best for the company.

I brought home one particular idea, by Larry and I would kindly ask you to think over it, because it is of great value:
The mobile phone! What do you do to incorporate it in you business or life? If nothing, then you are 10 years behind. Three years ago nobody thought that the mobile phone would also become an MP3 player, a photo camera, a digital camera, a computer, a TV set, a GPS and many more. Imagine what the mobile would be in 5 five year… probably a credit card, a scanning device, a fax?
